Our Latest Release!

It has felt like it has been a long time in the making, but we're delighted to announce our latest beer: Aspirational Kickflip!

We brewed this beer at Farm Yard Brew Co, near Lancaster. They're a great team and a lot closer to home!

(Here's a little video of our brewing and canning days and Farm Yard)

It's a Pale Ale in the American style in that it's light in colour but slightly more bitter than an English Pale Ale. We put some Mosaic hops in at a 70C whirlpool after the boil and dolloped Mosaic Cryo, Bru-1 and El Dorado hops in the dry hop.

Hop varieties all have their own names and impart different flavours based on the particular oils and attributes. Hops from different parts of the world taste different too. British hops are (historically) earthy, herbal and woodsy, US hops have piney, citrus, tropical fruit flavours, and those are the reason we went with these US hops this time.

There's a small amount of wheat and oats in the beer to add a bit of haze and softness, we treated the water with particular brewing salts to accentuate the bitter, refreshing snap that comes from Colombus hops added in the 60 minute boil. (Hops added early in the boil only impart bitterness, and little else in terms of flavour). We went with the Verdant Lallemand yeast which is famous - notorious? notorimous? - for leaving the beer hazy and juicy. It's one of our favourites.

Finally, possibly the most exciting part of the brewing process this time was that we have packaged some of the beer into eKegs rather than just KeyKegs and Polykegs. This is perhaps a bit of a niche point but if you're a small brewery who doesn't have its own steel kegs then one option is to use plastic, 1-time (recyclable) Polykegs or KeyKegs. Whilst this is good for some situations, we're delighted that brewing at Farm Yard has made it possible to use eKegs, who hire out kegs . Once they're empty they get picked up from the pub, cleaned and distributed to another brewery for filling. It feels like a greener solution and a big step forward for us.

The spent grain even gets delivered to the beef cows on the adjoining farm for feed!

We're really pleased that we've brewed again. It's Tough Out There(TM) at the moment and it feels great to have stuck it out this far! You can buy our Aspirational Kickflip HERE, our Mixed Cases HERE and even our lovely little Christmas Gift Boxes HERE.

We're also really pleased to be able to say that the charitable contribution from Aspirational Kickflip (and the recent rebrews of Imposter Syndrome and Giggles) has been sent to Soul Kitchen Chester, a charity that works to help homeless people in Chester get back on their feet through food and friendship. Our contribution went to their current crowdfunder for a van to be able to reach more people in need of support.

Thanks!
