Dry January

Dry January is a bit of an odd time for breweries - imagine if every other business had a 12th of the year dedicated to avoiding its sector. Of course there are health benefits for laying off, or cutting down on, booze and of course it comes after a time of excess for many.

Usually a company like ours would sort of "try harder" to sell its product - but this feels a bit icky. We know that many have cut back for a little while but still want to support a brewery like ours so I tried writing down a few things that would help but don't involve boozing in January.

I should also say that none of these things apply solely to beer/brewing. If you want to support an independent business but don't have cash, there are still lots of things that can help!

So, here we go!

1. Follow us and/or engage with us on social media.

It's all about numbers. The more people that follow us, the more people that see us. Some pubs/shops/customers even make buying decisions based on the amount of social media clout you have as a brewery. The thinking is "well if they have a lot of followers, there might be a lot of buyers". I can see the logic, therefore, please consider following us on your secondary social media channel and help us dominate the algorithm. We're on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Similar goes for engaging with us. Comment, like, all that good stuff. It just helps us pop up in other people's feeds.

2. Sign up for the newsletter.

Similar to the above, but signing up to the newsletter gets you news before everyone else and we share info about deals and discounts. We send something every 2-to-4 weeks and we always make sure that we're telling you things that are worth your while. You can sign up here.

3. Review us.

Either on Facebook, Untappd or Google, it all really, really helps, especially if you liked the product or service! You might also be a good counterbalance to the people who rate us "1 ⭐️ - I don't really like beer"

4. Tell a friend.

Be a friend, tell a friend! If your recommendation leads to 2 more customers or followers things things would get out of hand quite quickly...in a good way! Word of mouth is so useful and we appreciate it every time that someone says something nice about us to their pals.

5. Buy as a gift.

1/12th of the population have a birthday in January - even if you're not drinking, maybe they'd fancy a can?

6. Buy a bit of beer now, to drink in February.

Sort of obvious, sort of not. Buy it now, save it for later, we won't tell anyone.

Six things! Roll a dice and pick one, or do all six! We really appreciate any help you can give.

Of course, if you're not doing Dry January, why not give Tryanuary a spin? It's a response to Dry Jan from the craft beer industry which encourages those of us not giving up alcohol to try some new breweries, pubs or styles. It's a fun way to broaden your beer horizons!

Thanks for reading. We hope you have a happy and successful 2023!
