A Charitable Brewery, not a Charity Brewery

When putting together the brewery, it was important to us that it reflected our values. We passionately believe in the motto "It takes a village to raise a child" and this is a great opportunity for our brewery to be a force for good and for positive change.

We describe ourselves as charitable, not a charity. We donate to good causes for every pint or can we sell, but we feel that it's important to not imply that we are a charity.

We're donating 5p for every can or pint we sell.

We donate every time we make a sale but, whilst we are cuckoo/contract brewing, we will donate as soon as the batch of beer is packaged into kegs and cans. It's important to us that we start the ball rolling - the donation to the good cause isn't reliant on you, the customer, taking a punt on a new brewery; the money has already been donated and is already making a difference.

The initial plan was for each of our beers to support a particular good cause that "makes sense" for the beer e.g. a West Coast IPA would donate to environmental efforts on the west coast of Wales, or a Smoked Porter would aid miners' benevolent fund but news events have overtaken us. The plan is still to tie in beers to causes in future, but we are reserving ourselves the right to react to causes when local and world events make it necessary.

And so: each release of beers from us whilst we are cuckoo brewers - every time we brew and package a beer - we will let you know which causes each beer is supporting. We'll let you know how your money will help those in need and how you can help further if you are in the position to do so.

You can find out about the causes supported by our first release here.

We can't wait for Spookton beers and its fans to start making a difference!
